The way I read the entire announcement, yard trimmings will not necessarily be picked up on the same day as regular garbage but the week that the bi-weekly service begins is based upon the day of our regular pick-up. This statement is the final one in the paragraph about the new schedule. "Yard trimmings may be picked up any day during the week."

IMPORTANT PUBLIC SAFETY CALL TO ACTION FOR ZONE 2 NEIGHBORHOODS

On Wednesday, April 21st, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners will hear from the Zone 2 public before they discuss and vote for funding of a Community Prosecutor for Zone 2. Zone 2 is currently the only zone in Atlanta operating without a Community Prosecutor.

Representatives from Zone 2 neighborhoods have been asked to attend this meeting of the Board of Commissioners this Wednesday at 10:00 to express our need for a Community Prosecutor. We are asking you to please take time out of your calender to help our area achieve this long sought after goal.

A Community Prosecutor will be someone who will know our community, itʼs every street, and itʼs every criminal. She or he will work hard as our specially designated Prosecutor to put those repeat offenders behind bars and off our streets. Please attend the April 21st, Wednesday meeting at 10:00, Fulton County Government Center, Assembly Hall, 141 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.If you cannot, please appoint someone from your neighborhood to represent your community.

I grew up on this street and moved there in 1970 and it was always "Parian Ridge Road". It was never Paran Ridge Road.

The clogged storm drain at 1525 West Paces Ferry Road remains a true hazard. It is located on a blind curve no less than 100 yards from the entrance to Westminster where young drivers pass each day. I have contacted the city no less that 7 times in the last 6 months. They say that they have cleaned it out, but the picture below taken just yesterday shows the problem remains. I encourage you all to contact the city to voice your concern over this traffic hazard.

Joanna - We use an attorney each year to go over our assessment, handle any appeals etc. They only handle property tax issues and their charges are reasonable. They also seem to be able to get to the right people faster than we can. Scott Dixon/Becky Adelman 404-892-3551 (Dixon Law Firm)

We had a long running dispute with the City over "estimated" water usage as a result of a broken/faulty meter. I found the only way to deal with it was to call the customer service number (404-658-6500) each and every month and dispute the estimated usage. Initially, they said that they would have the meter replaced and once they had a "good" reading, they would reconcile for the months that were estimated. 12 months later we still did not have a replacement meter and my cumulative estimated bill was approaching $3000. On top of that, the City saw fit to turn my water off 3 times over that 12 month period for non-payment. Each time I had to call Customer Service only to have them agree that I should not have had my water turned off and that a work order had been generated to have the meter replaced. It was a nightmare.

In the end, a new meter was finally installed, a good reading was obtained and the usage was applied back to the disputed months. I did have to appeal their original offer due to the fact that they didn't apply to all "estimated" bills, only 12 months, but they granted my appeal and went back on all estimated bills.

I would suggest you begin by talking live to Customer Service. I can attest that emails are at the bottom of the priority list down there. Let them know that you want to dispute all prior estimated bills and would like a reading. I would explain that you haven't been using your sprinklers as it would have violated the usage rules. Therefore, the estimated usage is not accurate. Then suggest that they get a good reading and (based on that reading) propose that it take the place of the estimated usage for ever how many months it had been estimated. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss. Be prepared to marvel at the pitiful state of affairs of the Watershed Management Department. Hard to believe that an organization can actually function so poorly. Great opportunity for privatization!

Remember that there is a section of the metro section of the Journal Constitution that provides a contact number for you to send in complaints and problems with local government infrastructure...I think the title is "Taken to Task" -- you might check this out if you do not get this problem solved in a timely manner.

Why did they shorten the stop line on Mt Paran at Northside Parkway heading north from Paces Ferry so that you can no longer turn right with even a single car waiting to go straight ? I see where they added cross walks, but don''t you think they could have added a right turn lane at the corner to compensate for the loss of the ability to turn right when even two or three cars are waiting ?

This is going to make the back ups even worse, especially when school starts up again.

I hope they reroute the 75 South exit to Mt Paran to where is was originally designed to go and should be onto Northside Parkway near the IBM entrance. This would eliminate the need for the double left turn onto Northside Parkway, ease congestion on Mt Paran heading South and North across Northside Parkway.

From July 7, 2008 to January, 2009 the city missed my trash pick up multiple times randomly..some time for 3 weeks in a row. Of course I spent many hours on hold reporting this over and over and did indeed have to have my trash removed by someone else two times.

In January 2009, just when they started picking up my trash on schedule, the recycling came to a screeching halt. I called Mary Harrington many times and finally emailed Joe Basista, Mary Harrington and at least 4 others and in March 2009, I now get trash (every week) and recycling (every other week) pick up.

I am thankful that Mary Harrington and others finally responded.
